Level of Inequality of Population Expenditure in Papua Province September 2019

Abstract

In September 2019, the level of expenditure disparity in the population of Papua Province as measured by the Gini Ratio was 0.391. This figure decreased by 0.007 points when compared to the September 2018 Gini Ratio of 0.398. Meanwhile, when compared with the March 2019 Gini Ratio which amounted to 0.394, it decreased by 0.003 points.
  • The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2019 was recorded at 0.288, down compared to the September 2018 Gini Ratio of 0.294 and also down when compared to the March 2019 Gini Ratio of 0.297. Meanwhile, the Gini Ratio in rural areas in September 2019 was recorded at 0.410, down when compared to the September 2018 Gini Ratio of 0.416 and increased when compared to the March 2019 Gini Ratio of 0.409.
  • In September 2019, the distribution of expenditure in the lowest 40 percent group was 15.74 percent. This means that population expenditure is in the category of moderate inequality. If broken down by region, in urban areas the figure is 22.69 percent, which means it is in the category of low inequality. While for rural areas, the figure was 15.81 percent, which means it was included in the category of moderate inequality.
